What was your first-ever job?

Washing up in a restaurant. Eventually promoted to waitress.

What was your worst experience as a trainee?

Being sent on a hearing and finding it was in open court before a circuit judge and the other side had instructed leading counsel. My only advocacy experience was an uncontested application before a district judge. Somehow, I survived (with help from the judge, who realised I was out of my depth).

Where’s the best place to go if you want to find out what’s really going on in the office?

Lunch room with the secretaries or the photocopier.

What do you do at weekends?

Sailing and going to gigs. Also, we travel a lot.

What’s your favourite film?

Pink Floyd’s The Wall.

The first record you bought?

Antmusic, by Adam and the Ants.

What book are you reading?

Cider with Roadies, by Stuart Maconie.

What’s the most exciting deal/case you’ve worked on and why?

Obtaining the largest exclusion order to date against a violent perpetrator in the North West. We were able to exclude him from the whole of Warrington after he targeted vulnerable elderly people.

If you were stranded on a desert island what two luxury items would you take?

My mascara and my iPod.

What do you do at weekends?

Sailing and going to gigs (last one: The Cult and the Mission).

What’s the worst partner conference location you’ve attended?

Near Old Trafford. I support Liverpool.

What’s the longest you’ve worked without sleep?

48 hours – night shift as a nurse, a day in the restaurant then an essay.

If a movie was being made about your life, which actor would play you and why?

Renée Zellweger – she looks like me and she dates musicians.

Who would you least like to be stuck in a lift with and why?

A Radio One DJ.

I did advanced cake decoration and furniture restoration; I recently completed a tour of China; I once had a song in the charts.
