Law school to teach pro-bono

The goal is to provide all students with the opportunity to engage in pro bono work and get a credit for it.

The College's chief executive Professor Nigel Savage says: "Law schools have a key role to play in instilling and fostering a pro bono culture amongst their students.

"Pro bono experience produces students better equipped practically and professionally to meet the challenges of modern legal practice, including meeting professional obligations."

The plan at the College has been developed by Peta Sweet, formerly at the Solicitor's Pro Bono Group, and legal education expert Richard Grimes. The idea is to build on two existing advice clinics in London and introduce clinics in Guildford, Chester, York and the new branch at Birmingham
