Leading Baker Botts project finance lawyer and former head of Chadbourne & Parke‘s London office Nancy Persechino is moving to Bingham Dana.
Persechino is joining the US firm’s Washington DC office after moving to Baker Botts from Chadbourne two years ago.
She will start in the project development and finance group as a partner and will work on both domestic and international projects.
Negotiations between Persechino and Bingham Dana began earlier this year.
Bingham Dana managing partner Jay Zimmerman says Persechino’s experience of working with both financial institutions and developers made her particularly attractive to the firm.
He adds: “Her arrival is the latest step in the steady expansion of our project development and finance practice in all our offices.”
Bingham Dana’s 30-lawyer international group, which includes 13 partners, is spread across the Boston, New York, Washington and London offices.
A Bingham Dana spokesman says: “We are actively looking to build up our capability in the project finance area across the board, but also specifically in New York and Washington.
“There is a lot of activity in New York because of the capital markets work and in Washington because a lot of it has to do with deregulation and this is where Congress is.”
Persechino’s UK experience will also be called upon as the firm wants to continue building the London office and the amount of its project finance work it carries out.
Persechino is one of the world’s leading project finance lawyers, specialising in international infrastructure work in the electricity sector.
She quit Chadbourne’s London office in 1998. She then returned to the US to take up a partnership with Baker Botts and was based in its Washington DC office.
Both Persechino and Baker Botts were unavailable for comment.
