Wragges scoops Clifford Chance associate as partner

Clifford Chance structured finance senior associate Kieron Dwyer is to join Wragge & Co’s growing banking and finance team as a partner.

Dwyer told The Lawyer that he chose to make the move from the world’s largest to the mid-market firm because he wanted to “try something different, something more entrepreneurial.”

Wragges’ banking and finance team has brought in 33 per cent more revenue over the last year, according to team head Chris Brierley.

He commented: “Asset-banked finance is a major driver, but our team doesn’t do those billion-pound deals characteristic of the magic circle. Typically our deals are £150-250m.”

In his former job Dwyer built up considerable international experience, including spending three years in Clifford Chance’s Tokyo office and advising on the privatisation and acquisition financing of the Eleme petrochemical plant in Nigeria. He was also the senior associate on the Al Hidd independent water and power project in Bahrain.

These international credentials, combined with his skills and experience in the energy sector, helped him land the job said Brierley.

Dwyer declined to comment on whether he was up for promotion to partnership at the magic circle firm.

Clifford Chance was unavailable for comment.
