Denton Wilde Sapte has bulked up its finance group with the hire of Clifford Chance lawyer David Cohen, reflecting the firm’s increasing workload in the area.
Cohen will join James Curtis and Farmita Bi as the third partner in the group.
“We’ve had a very successful two years,” Bi told The Lawyer. “We thought it was the right time to consolidate our position in the market.”
Cohen was part of Clifford Chance partner David Dunnigan’s group and focuses on pure debt capital markets.
He has known Bi for a number of years, when she was a trainee and then an assistant at Clifford Chance.
“I know his reputation and I know he’s going to fit in well with us,” Bi added.
The finance group has recently acted on behalf of Total Fina Elf on the British Energy restructuring, and Visionary Properties on the refinancing of the Excel Project bonds.
Cohen will join the group in November.
