His appointment comes as DMH Stallard looks to implement its ­latest three-year strategy, ­positioning itself as a “better value” alternative to magic circle and top 50 firms. Managing partner Tim Aspinall said: “Richard understands our focus on ­providing straightforward advice to
our clients and being transparent about our fees.”



Lewis Silkin has hired Marcus O’Leary as a partner in the media, brands and technology group. He joins from Keystone Law.

Halliwells has taken on real estate lawyer ­Caroline Taylor as a partner in London. She was previously with property company Bride Hall Group.

McGuireWoods has expanded its London ­litigation team by hiring partner Adam Greaves and associates Rose Parlane, Mathieu Doublet and Patrick Gilfillian from Steptoe & Johnson.

Kingsley Napley has hired Adrian Crawford as a partner in its employment practice. He was ­previously a partner at DMH Stallard.

Bryan Cave has promoted Jeremy Saideman to counsel in its London corporate group.

Field Fisher Waterhouse has taken on ­projects partner Richard Temple, who joins from Osborne Clarke, and corporate consultant ­Zdzislaw Wieckowski, who joins from White & Case. They will both work in the CIS and central and eastern Europe group.

Dundas & Wilson has strengthened its ­London office by hiring projects partners William Simmons and Ross Campbell from Tods Murray. The firm has also taken on funds partner Michael Gwdir from DLA Piper and promoted corporate recovery associate Craig Darling to partner.

Olswang has raided DLA Piper for tax partner Hartley Foster. He joins the Olswang tax team as a partner under head of tax Mark Joscelyne.

SJ Berwin has appointed David Rose as head of IP. He takes over from outgoing IP chief Ray Black. 

Former CMS Cameron McKenna executive partner Robert Derry-Evans has joined legal ­mentoring company Outside Insight as one of its coaches. He joins with former Geldards ­partner William Mills.


Litigation assistant David Riordan has joined the Canterbury office of Gardner Croft, leaving his position at Wilsons Solicitors.


Coventry firm Band Hatton has promoted head of employment Mark Ridley to associate.


Health and social care firm Hempsons has recruited employment partner Andrew Davidson from Kimbells. Davidson, who was a partner at Kimbells, joins the Yorkshire employment team. Hempsons has also promoted Richard Nolan ­(dispute resolution), Jamie Foster (commercial) and Nadya Wolferstan (healthcare) to its ­partnership. The firm has also hired Paul Burns, former chief officer of the Family Health ­Services appeal unit in Harrogate, as a ­consultant in its Harrogate office.

Halliwells has expanded its construction team with the hire of partner Andrew MacCuish from Eversheds.


Linklaters has appointed tax adviser Olaf Kroon as counsel in Amsterdam to head its Dutch tax practice. He joins from Allen & Overy, where he has worked for seven years.

Garrigues has elected Fernando Vives and Ricardo Gomez-Barreda as joint managing ­partners. They take over from Jose Maria Alonso and Miguel Gordillo, who step down after nine years.

Real estate lawyer Florence Cherel has been promoted to partner in Herbert Smith’s Paris office.


Legal headhunter Hussein El-Zein has joined executive search firm Sheffield Haworth to focus on the Middle East market. He was ­previously with recruiters Taylor Root.


Thomas Maira has moved to Reed Smith as private equity counsel in New York. He was ­previously real estate counsel for the Americas at Babcock & Brown.

Robert Ansehl has joined Nixon Peabody as a partner in the insurance practice in New York. He joins from McDermott Will & Emery.

Bryan Cave has hired of counsel Philip Haleen and counsel Iliana Haleen to its Hamburg office. They join from Faegre & Benson.

Shearman & Sterling has taken on former Merrill Lynch managing director Jeffrey Quinn as counsel in the New York finance group.
