PUPIL barristers are set to become the latest lawyers to be put under the documentary makers' microscope – and the programme is looking for chambers to take part in the project.

Zenith North Film & Television Productions is planning to follow the highs and lows of a group of students through their training. The project has won support from the Bar Council and the Inns of Court School of Law, although Channel Four has yet to give it the green light.

Zenith spokeswoman Rachel Goodwin is confident barristers' training has the right mix of drama, entertainment and enlightenment to attract the viewing public.

She said: "I do not think a lot of people know the difference between barristers and solicitors and they do not know how much work is involved in becoming a barrister."

The pupils will be the stars of the show, but the programme will also examine the role of senior barristers in their training while others will be asked to recall their student days.

Zenith says it wants to depict as broad a picture of the training as possible and asks any chambers interested in taking part in the series to contact Goodwin on 0171 224 2440.
