In the letter you recently published from Mark Harvey of Smith Llewellyn Partnership, he intimated that enquiries received by the Law Society or Accident Line from members of the public seeking advice on medical negligence were not referred to practices specialising in medical negligence work. This is not the case.
Between January and December 1997, 1,317 medical negligence enquiries were referred by Accident Line to members of the medical negligence panel.
As a matter of interest, this represented approximately 5 per cent of all referrals received.
