Lovells’ Italian managing partner is to leave the firm, prompting a shake-up of its Italian management structure.

Paolo Criscione will leave the firm at the end of October, with private equity star Leah Dunlop taking over as managing partner for Italy and setting the strategic direction for the firm in Italy.

Marco Rota Candiani is now managing partner for the firm’s Milan office. This is a new role to help manage budgets, head counts and work allocation in Milan.

Dunlop said: “This is an opportunity to rethink the management. It is mixing too many roles to have the managing partner doing both budgeting and the general representation of the firm.”

It is thought Criscione left for personal reasons. Although based in Milan with Lovells, Criscione’s family lives in Tuscany. He will take time off to spend more time with them.
