There were no major surprises on Montagu Private Equity’s acquisition of British Car Auctions (BCA) last week. Linklaters led for Montagu, while Allen & Overy (A&O) advised the target. Partners Richard Youle and Dominic Welham led the team at Linklaters, while Stephen Matthews led for A&O. Montagu, which acquired a 100 per cent share in BCA, also instructs Eversheds and DLA Piper. BCA chairman David Hammond went on record last week to support a Montagu-backed buyout worth £450m. CVC Capital Partners, which owns Kwik-Fit and the AA and which has instructed Clifford Chance, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Linklaters in the past, is also understood to have been interested in BCA.
