Former Crystal Palace FC manager Iain Dowie is taking CMS Cameron McKenna to court over fees racked up by the firm when it represented Dowie in defence of a claim brought by the club.
Dowie ;is ;disputing Camerons’ costs for acting on a case brought by Palace chairman Simon Jordan, who alleged that Dowie had deceived him when he left to join rival club Charlton Athletic in 2006.
Jordan, represented by Fladgate Fielder, won the case and Dowie was ordered to pay costs.
Camerons has instructed Simmons ;& ;Simmons litigation partner James
Pollock for the dispute, while Dowie is using partner Gary Austin of niche firm Barker Austin.
Dowie has submitted a claim to the High Court asking Camerons to disclose details of its fees between September 2006 and July 2007.
It is understood that the firm billed around £400,000 during the case.
During the legal battle in 2007 Jordan accused Dowie of misleading him into waiving a £1m exit clause in Dowie’s contract, which Dowie would have owed to the club, by saying he wanted to be closer to his family in Bolton. Dowie subsequently joined rival London club Charlton.
