Lovells promotes 46 to of counsel

Lovells has promoted a total of 46 lawyers to its of counsel role, with the appointments spread across a broad range of practice groups.

A total of 27 of the promotions have been made in continental Europe, with 11 in London, six in Asia and two in the US, with the role known as ‘of counsel’, ‘counsel’ or ‘consultant’ depending on the jurisdiction.

Managing partner David Harris said: “I am delighted to be able to confirm these appointments to what is a senior and now well-established role within our international practice.

“This status recognises those senior lawyers who perform at the highest level and who contribute to the firm in a variety of ways beyond pure fee-earning. Promotion to this role therefore represents a significant career milestone.”

In a change from this year’s partnership promotions, when the intellectual property, media and technology (IPMT) group gained the greatest share (The Lawyer, 11 April 2008), the corporate practice has fared best out of this round, gaining 13 of counsels.

IPMT gained the second largest number, seven, with banking and real estate also faring well with six apiece.
