Baker & McKenzie has hired Addison Braendel as a partner and head of the real estate and alternative fund formation team and Sarah Harris as an associate in its Chicago office from Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw.

Latham & Watkins has boosted its Munich office with the hire of Shearman & Sterling finance partner Andreas Diem.

•South West firm Withy King has appointed property specialist Cheryl Wild as a partner. Wild joined the commercial property team in May from Mogers Solicitors, where she was partner. Commercial property litigation assistant Mike Hansom has also joined from Anthony Gold Solicitors, where he was a trainee.

•Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel has appointed Charles Warren as partner and chairman of the firm’s environmental protection agency. Warren joins from Bryan Cave, where he was a partner.

•Ashton Graham Solicitors has hired Dawn Cardy as a licensed conveyancer in its Ipswich residential conveyancing team from Colchester-based firm Passmores.

Eversheds has boosted its IP practice with the hire of Slaughter and May senior associate Dominic Dryden as a partner.

•Baker & McKenzie’s former chairman Christine Lagarde has been promoted to finance minister in Nicolas Sarkozy’s French government, the first woman to hold the post in the country. Lagarde left Bakers in 2005 to become the French minister for foreign trade.

•LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae has poached Vinson & Elkins energy partner Dirk Walker to beef up its Beijing presence. Walker, who has experience in M&A, project finance and infrastructure development work, joins as a partner.

•Plexus Law has made two hires into its professional indemnity and commercial risk team in London. Nigel Plant joins as a partner from Clausen Miller, while Naomi Skinner joins as a newly qualified lawyer.

•Cheltenham firm Rickerbys has hired Brian Jones as an associate in the commercial property team from Davis Gregory, where he was a partner, director and shareholder.
