Nabarro has won a role as online gambling company Sportingbet’s principal corporate adviser, filling the void left by Ashurst. Ashurst and Sportingbet parted company at the end of last year, bringing to a close their long-term relationship. Since then the company has sought corporate advice on an ad hoc basis, but has retained Berwin Leighton Paisner as its adviser on regulatory matters. Nabarro corporate partner Jonathan Canter, who was made up from associate earlier this year, led a pitch for the business alongside partner Graham Stedman. Iain Newman, head of Nabarro’s corporate group, said the firm has experience of acting for companies in the e-gaming sector, having represented former online gaming company Empire Online when it floated in 2005. The firm also acted for online payment processing company Fireone when it floated and then subsequently delisted.
