Virgin Group has ditched Ashurst from its law firm panel following the conclusion of the review of its UK legal advisers.
South-west firm Bond Pearce has been appointed to the panel for the first time.
The review, which was led by group general counsel Josh Bayliss and group legal director Ian Woods, sees Virgin appoint an eight-strong panel comprising Allen & Overy, Bond Pearce, Denton Wilde Sapte, DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, Eversheds, Harbottle & Lewis, Herbert Smith and Macfarlanes.
Commenting on Virgin’s decision not to re-appoint Ashurst Woods said: “Although they have been on our panel for a number of years, we have not worked very closely with Ashurst for while. In looking for efficiencies in our legal spend we decided that it made sense not to renew their UK role on the panel.”
“We will continue to work with some of their [Ashurst] overseas offices in relation to group matters in other jurisdictions,” added Woods.
