Hammonds redundancy talks end: 77 to go

Hammonds has completed a redundancy consultation, which has seen 77 members of staff lose their jobs.

The firm launched a consultation with 95 jobs in November 2008, the majority of them in corporate and real estate (TheLawyer.com, 6 November 2008).

A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that we have made 77 redundancies across our offices in the UK. It is a matter of great regret that we have had to make redundancies, but we have taken steps to retrain and redeploy a number of people which has kept the total number of departures to an absolute minimum.”

The firms facing the largest absolute number of cuts are Clifford Chance and Linklaters, which have a total of 880 and 270 in consultation, respectively.

While 158 jobs are under threat at Fox Hayes, which went into administration on 16 January 2009. (TheLawyer.com, 19 January 2009)
