Latham hikes technology with Cooley swoop

Latham & Watkins has continued the aggressive expansion of its technology practice by poaching Cooley Godward partner and outsourcing head Daniel Mummery.

As first revealed on (28 January), Mummery will join Latham’s Silicon Valley office as a partner. He is the firm’s fourth partner hire for its global outsourcing and technology transactions group within the last year, following of Allen Klein and Robert Hasty from the Washington DC office of Shaw Pittman and Andrew Moyle from its London office.

Prior to joining Cooley’s Palo Alto office in 2001, Mummery was a partner in the New York office of Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy. Cooley will be sad to lose a partner with an $8m-$10m (£4.4m-£5.4m) business. The firm has recently recorded a rise in partner profits, despite a slump in turnover.

Mummery has worked on a string of outsourcing transactions including deals for AT&T, BellSouth,
British Telecommunications, ChevronTexaco, DuPont, General Motors and United Airlines.
