Simmons & Simmons has made two lateral hires from US firms into its financial markets team, which is expecting revenue increases of between 20 and 25 per cent on last year.
Financial regulatory partner Jennifer Donohue is leaving Hogan & Hartson’s London office to join Simmons.
Donohue has expertise in insurance and reinsurance, and before Hogan she spent a spell at the Department of Trade & Industry.
Concurrently, Simmons has poached its second lawyer in nine months from Debevoise & Plimpton, with private equity lawyer Noel Ainsworth joining as a partner.
He will be reunited with corporate partner Arthur Stewart, who joined from Debevoise, where he was counsel, last June.
Simmons has a track record of taking on lateral senior associates from magic circle and US firms and making them partners. Stewart was one of three who joined in June, while in October Simmons hired senior associate Charlotte Stalin from Clifford Chance and made her a finance partner.
