Eversheds makes history with 30 promotions” />
Eversheds has promoted 30 associates to the partnership in what is the firm’s largest ever promotional round.
Chief executive David Gray said the promotions reflected the firm’s strategy of concentrating on international growth and expanding the London office, with nine of the new partners based overseas and six in the capital.
Gray added: “The hires reflect our strategic objectives, and are also 33 per cent female, which is good and better than our overall average [of female to male lawyers].”
The 30 promotions break last year’s record-setting round of 24 new partners.
In London the firm promoted two corporate lawyers to the partnership, along with two litigators, one commercial and one real estate lawyer.
Internationally the firm promoted three lawyers in Ireland (two commercial and one real estate); two in France (one corporate and one litigation), two in Germany (one corporate and one real estate); and one in Italy (corporate).
In other UK locations the firm promoted five lawyers in Birmingham, three in Manchester, three in Leeds, two in Cardiff and one each in Norwich and Nottingham.
Litigation saw the biggest increase with five new partners, followed by the corporate and real estate groups, which both have four new partners. The commercial and employment groups each have a new partner.
The firm has also promoted 26 lawyers to senior associate and re-elected chairman Alan Jenkins to serve a second three-year term (The Lawyer, 26 March). Jenkins was re-elected unopposed and will sit alongside Gray.
