Nabarro Nathanson advised longstanding client Great Portland Estates on the sale of 90 Fetter Lane, EC4 to Blue Chip Capital Europa Immobilien for £37.3m. The 58,000sq ft building was built by Great Portland Estates in the early 1990s and is let to Bird & Bird and Goodman Derrick. It also houses a pub let to Mitchells & Butler. This is the second sale that Nabarros has completed for Great Portland Estates: last December the firm acted for the company on the sale of Barnard’s Inn, 86 Fetter Lane, to Henderson Central Office Fund. Barlow Lyde & Gilbert has won mechanical and electronic product producer Danfoss as a client, negotiating the company’s financial outsourcing deal to Capgemini. Commercial technology partner Christian Bartsch led the work, having picked it up through consultancy firm Alsbridge Consulting. Over a period of time, Danfoss will outsource finance and accounting transactions to Capgemini in Kraków, Poland. The deal, the value of which is undisclosed, was governed by English law. Capgemini was advised by an in-house team with some help from Gavin Wakefield at niche firm Technology Law Alliance.
Regional firm Blake Lapthorn Linnell is advising Bank of Scotland as lead arranger on an £85m loan facility for Chemring Group, a Hampshire-based defence company. The facility comprised two parts – £60m debt and £25m working capital components. Part of the facility was used to fund Chemring’s £22m acquisition of Troon Investments, a manufacturer of pyrotechnic and propellant equipment. Southampton-based head of banking Kath Shimmin led the Blake Lapthorn team. Bond Pearce acted for Chemring.
