Lovells has made a further hire in its Madrid office with the addition of Carlos Bardavío as a senior associate.

Bardavio joins from Portugese shopping centre company Sonae Sierra, where he was head of legal affairs in Spain. He joins Lovells’ real estate practice, which is headed by senior lawyer Emilio Gómez Delgado.

Bardavio’s hire follows that of electrical engineer Pedro Mieglo, who served as chair of Spanish utilities company Red Eléctrica de España from 1997 to 2004, as a consultant (www.thelawyer.com, 24 October). In September the Madrid office hired Lupicinio Eversheds energy partner Hermenegildo Altozano as well as associate Esther Sebastian (www.thelawyer.com, 10 September).

On Bardavio’s appointment Madrid managing partner José Maria Balañá said: “In order to be a prime choice law firm in the real estate sector and to continue providing high-quality service to our clients in their real estate transactions, it was necessary to reinforce our team with a professional with the experience and know-how of Carlos Bardavío.

“Carlos is an excellent lawyer with a law firm background, but who also has a deep understanding of the sector due to his experience as legal director of a real estate company.”

Prior to joining Sonae Sierra Bardavio worked at Gómez Acebo & Pombo.
