Ince & Co’s head of marine casualty James Wilson has been chosen to succeed Peter Rogan as the firm’s senior partner in April.

Rogan was made senior partner of the insurance powerhouse in 2000 and has since led the firm’s international development programme. The firm has opened offices in Shanghai, Hamburg, Paris, Le Havre and Dubai.

After he takes a sabbatical Rogan will return to Ince & Co to further develop the firm’s insurance practice.

Wilson became head of the firm’s marine casualty practice in 1997. He has contributed to the development of the Maritime Solicitors Mediation Service. The initiative promotes greater use of mediation in the maritime sector.

Wilson’s tenure will span five years and in that time he aims to capitalise on the firm’s strengths. He told The Lawyer: “While we have a strong presence on all our key areas, we haven’t cornered all the markets. It’s a target rich environment.”
