Tulkinghorn reported last week that the likes of Denton Wilde Sapte, Lovells and Slaughter and May competed in Standard Chartered Bank’s rugby competition in September.
Tulkinghorn seemed to suggest this was nothing more than an excuse for mucho boozing and an incidental rugby tournament.
However, it has emerged that the bank’s panel firms also proved keen supporters of charity. The event actually raised £57,343 for Standard Chartered’s charity Seeing is Believing for the visually impaired.
Tulkinghorn still suspects the total raised equates to roughly a pound for every pint sunk during the post-match booze-up.
