The City Disputes Panel (CDP) has launched an employment support service offering clients alternative dispute resolution (ADR) options specifically for HR disputes.

The CDP, a dispute resolution body for the financial services industry, said it laun-ched the service in response to urgent calls from members. “Feedback confirmed the [Employment Tribunal Sys-tem] Taskforce findings that there was a clear need for an alternative forum to resolve employment disputes at the earliest opportunity,” said CDP chief executive Karl Davies.

In light of the fact that there are now over 100,000 tribunal cases a year, the taskforce recommended that schemes promoting mediation and ADR should be made available in addition to the service provided by Acas.

“We’ve assembled a panel of experienced professionals who can offer conciliation, mediation and evaluation and so seek to prevent a problem escalating to a tribunal,” said Davies.

The panel, chaired by former Employment Appeals Tribunal president Oliver Popplewell, has around 25 members, including solicitors, barristers, HR practitioners and judiciary members.
