The owner of Battersea Power Station, Semisquare, is suing Staines-based SAP, the company that runs Adrenalin Village on a site adjacent to the power station, for £38,500 for shining lights on the famous power station's chimneys as part of a promotion for its Circus of Horrors. The writ alleges that SAP projected light beams on to the chimney 11 times in October and November last year and claims that Semisquare is entitled to a reasonable commercial rate of payment – £3,500 – for each time it happened and that the shining of the lights on the chimneys amounted to trespass and nuisance.

Southend Property Management is suing the Secretary of State for the Environment for rent arrears of £99,217,with interest of £1,022.25 and continuing interest of £21.75 a day. The company claims that the money is owed on the lease of the Alpha Tower, ATV Centre, Birmingham, which was leased to the Secretary of State for 20 years at an annual rent of £270,500.

Broadstone Estate, of Hertford, has issued a writ against Ross Brawn of Stoke Row, Oxfordshire, in a bid to prevent him being involved in the design, production or racing of Formula One racing cars until 1998. The writ seeks an injunction restraining Brawn from providing his services, as an employee, independent contractor or otherwise in connection with the design, production or racing of Formula One racing cars to any person other than Broadstone, engaged in such design, production or racing at any time up to 31 December 1998. Broadstone also seeks damages for alleged breach of contract.

Solicitors Brewer Harding & Rowe, of Ilfracombe, Devon, are being sued by Colin and Graham Hornsby, of Bristol, over alleged negligence and breach of contract when acting for the Hornsbys in their business as property developers. The claim is in respect of management of money paid in stage payments by brewers Courage when the Hornsbys redeveloped the Queens Hotel in Ilfracombe in November 1990. An order is being sought to make the firm produce an account of money due.
