Tulkinghorn’s scribes were delighted to be guests of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary and Lovells at the annual property industry karaoke night, Party Near the Park.
DLA Piper head of property David Taylor did his best impression of the firm’s Man in Havana, donning a natty mustard safari suit, although he blew the effect somewhat when he declared loudly: “This is better than Glastonbury!”
On stage, Lovells very own Santana, Bob Kidby, had the musical director role down pat, effortlessly holding the band together as it romped from Bolan to Abba to the Boss with the flick of his wrist.
Booze and bopping along to the hits of yesteryear, performed by some industry characters with very thick skins, was the order of the night. But even the battle-hardened scribes nearly choked on their Champagne when Ashurst real estate partners Anthony Burnett-Scott and Richard Vernon took to the stage. The pair ripped through a rendition of the Wham! classic I’m Your Man, and the performance certainly had the audience jiving away. But from what Tulkinghorn hears, posing with one leg up on the speaker box while wearing not much more than your white duds, a trademark Wham! shirt and sunglasses gave those unlucky enough to be sitting in the front row a slightly better view than they’d bargained for.
