Cisco Systems has parted company with its only UK-based corporate lawyer following the US technology giant’s decision to relocate a number of business functions to its West Coast headquarters.
Alfred Farha, who was senior counsel for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Cisco for four years, has opted to remain in the UK.
Like a number of technology companies, Cisco has endured a redundancy programme. Farha was not part of that round of lay-offs. However, following his decision to leave Cisco, he will not be replaced in the UK.
His former co-head of the EMEA team, Hans Albers remains in Amsterdam. He will now head up the whole of EMEA legal. He has a team of 12 lawyers which support sales, four of which are based in the UK.
Prior to joining Cisco, Farha spent four years as senior legal counsel for the EMEA region at technology services company Unisys.
