Bevan Ashford in Birmingham office move

Birmingham’s property market is hotting up with a raft of law firms scouring the city for new premises.

Bristol’s Bevan Ashford has become the latest to set in motion plans to acquire new office premises in the city centre, instructing property consultant GVA Grimley to advise on the move from its current ring-road office.

It is understood the firm is looking for about 16,000sq ft of space in Birmingham’s city centre and was inspecting properties last week.
A shortlist of about six properties is understood to include the prestigious One Victoria Square and Temple Court.

The move follows last week’s announcement by East Anglia’s Mills & Reeve that it is set to leave its Edgbaston premises and almost double its office space in Birmingham, signing a lease on 20,000sq ft of space in the city centre.

Earlier this year, Cobbetts closed the biggest property deal in the market, signing a lease on 40,000sq ft of space to house its newly merged Cobbetts and Lee Crowder arms.

One Birmingham property consultant said: “By coming into the city centre, these firms are certainly making a statement to the marketplace.”
