Williams F1 general counsel Jane Moffat has left the Formula One racing team to join GE Oil & Gas in Italy.
Moffat will start as senior counsel, global services at GE Oil & Gas in Florence, having been general counsel and a board member of Williams since 2007.
Moffat said: “I’m sad to leave Williams but excited about the new role also.”
The role at GE Oil & Gas is global and will see Moffat report to general counsel and vice president Kenneth Resnick.
Moffat qualified in Australia in 1998 and began her legal career with Sidney firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques. She later worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London, Brussels and Rome as a senior associate.
Williams F1 has not yet found a replacement for Moffat in the general counsel role.
Chief operating officer Alex Burns said: “We’re not necessarily looking for someone with a background in motor sports. We’re looking for people who have experience in contract law, in particular sponsorship contracts, and in IP.”
