Insurance giant QBE is revamping its claims-handling legal panel.

QBE, one of the world’s largest insurers, provides a range of insurance in the UK and Europe, including professional indemnity, product and employers’ liability and motor vehicle and property cover.

The review is being led by QBE claims director for Europe Andrew McBride and is designed to examine quality and value for money.

A QBE spokesperson said: “I can confirm that we’re conducting a full review of the solicitors we use in the UK for claims-related matters to ensure that we, and our clients, continue to receive the best quality and value legal support available in the market. Those firms affected by this move will be informed by the end of the year.”

Firms that have worked for QBE in the past include Barlow Lyde & Gilbert and Vizards Wyeth.

In 2004 QBE appointed a new corporate general counsel, former Norton Rose associate Adrian Williams, who will be reviewing corporate legal advisers in 2007.
