The London office of international accountancy firm Mazars has appointed its first-ever legal head after hiring an in-house lawyer from Grant Thornton.

Angela Dyer, a former Eversheds litigation partner and dispute resolution specialist, has been named director of legal services.

Prior to joining Mazars, Dyer was director of legal services at Grant Thornton, having joined following its merger with Robson Rhodes. She has also worked at Constant & Constant and More Fisher Brown.

Dyer said: “The firm is going from strength to strength and I’m looking forward to working with and supporting the management team and partners as director of legal services.”

Mazars has grown rapidly since 1995 and now has offices in 50 countries, ranking as the eighth-largest accountancy firm in the world by turnover. The creation of a legal position is a first for the UK head office.
