Studio Legale Padovan has become the first Italian law firm to launch a presence in Turkey, sending associate Rosario Sapuppo to open the Istanbul office.
Padovan has linked up with 25-lawyer Turkish firm Gür Law Firm. Sapuppo will be based in Gür’s office, advising the Italian firm’s client base of banks and infrastructure companies on deals in Turkey.
Partner Daniele Carminati will manage Padovan’s Turkish desk from Milan.
Padovan founding partner Marco Padovan said: “We intend to support Italian businesses in those countries where legal services are not yet offered in Italian by means of a joint legal structure, in which the best professionals of the host country co-operate with Italian lawyers.”
The move highlights the growing attraction of Turkey as a place to do business.
Earlier this year, Eurotunnel’s French adviser Foucaud Tchekhoff Pochet & Associés launched an office in Istanbul with a reciprocal arrangement with Postacioglu Law Office.
Padovan has offices in Milan, Rome and Treviso. The firm set up an alliance with New Delhi firm Titus & Co two years ago.
