Willkie Farr & Gallagher has raided Clifford Chance’s Frankfurt office for two of its most rated German corporate partners.
Mario Schmidt and Georg Linde are leaving Clifford Chance to join the US firm’s Frankfurt office, according to German publication Juve.
This follows Willkie’s raid on Linklaters last year, when the firm poached private equity specialist Jochen Winter for its Frankfurt office.
Private equity specialist Schmidt, who became a partner of the magic circle firm in 2002 and Linde, who became a partner of the firm last year, have advised on high profile mandates including advising private equity house Permira on its acquisition of Unilever’s frozen foods’ business.
Clifford Chance’s German practice has fallen victim to other US firms’ raids this year. In October, Sidley Austin poached Clifford Chance M&A partner Georg Rutzel to boost its Frankfurt corporate and finance department.
