Unlike Messrs Blair and Bush, Tulkinghorn has always respected the charm, intelligence and grace of his French colleagues. But one French partner has shocked Tulkinghorn after displaying a little of the former quality, less of the middle and none of the latter.
Tulkinghorn’s Parisian contacts tell of a partner who, in finest French tradition, had an affair with his secretary. Less fine, however, was his behaviour on discovering the lady was pregnant. The partner in question dumped her and then was dumped by his firm. Hoorah! After a shameless trawl of Paris’s law firms he has found a new abode. One hopes it has a civilising influence on the reckless cad.
