Chicago-based Winston & Strawn is the latest to profit from the demise of Thelen, hiring 19 Thelen lawyers into three of its offices.
The nine-partner, 10-associate haul is third largest to emerge from Thelen, following a 60-lawyer capture by Nixon Peabody and the 40 lawyers who joined Howrey (The Lawyer.com, 6 November 2008).
Winston & Strawn managing partner Tom Fitzgerald said: “We are extremely pleased to continue a remarkable year of strategic growth for the firm and welcome these attorneys to our offices.”
Fitzgerald pointed out the firm had added 40 partners, four of-counsel and 28 associates during 2008 in addition to opening new offices in Charlotte and Hong Kong.
Seven former Thelen partners join the firm’s San Francisco office, with one each joining Los Angeles and New York.
The partners joining San Francisco are Paul Griffin, Jonathan Howden, Richard Lapping, Kit Choy Loke, Dirk Mueller, Robert Nelson and Robert Pringle. The Los Angeles partner is Jarrett Fugh, and Jonathan Bristol is to join New York.
They cover litigation, private equity, international transactions, real estate, energy and intellectual property law.
