What would you have done if you hadn't become a lawyer?

Acting – I'd now be spending most of my time "resting".

Which law could you live without?

Sod's law – it applies to me with alarming regularity.

What was your most embarrassing professional moment?

Getting up to rifle through some papers at City Mags I sat down to find my chair had a flip-up seat and I was in an unsightly mess on the floor with my clients and four counsel trying not to notice.

What car do you drive?

A green Vauxhall Astra (mmm, nice).

Which famous person would you like to spend an evening with?

Liam Neeson.

Where would you go to eat?

He'd rustle me up something rustic at his place.

What's the best thing on TV?

Absolutely Fabulous (well, the first series) and ER.

Which movie do you wish you'd appeared in?

Anything with Liam Neeson in it.

What's your most often-worn piece of clothing?

Boring black work shoes.

What book(s) are you reading at the moment?

Charlotte's Ghost; The Story of Art.

What is your all-time favourite record?

David Cassidy's Daydreamer (The Puppy Song).

What piece of advice would you give to anyone entering the profession now?

Get your eyes tested, and record how rapidly you turn into a mole. Every lawyer I know wears glasses or contact lenses.

What do you like about yourself?

My new flat.

What do you hate about yourself?

The fact that all I seem to do lately is go to work or to the pub. Worse still, the lack of will power to go to the gym.

Where would you most like to be right now?

Anywhere hot and remote with no jellyfish, sharks or spiders.
