Maples Dublin raids A&L’s litigation team

Solan joins Maples as head of litigation, a group that also includes former A&L head of litigation Caroline Preston. Preston joined the firm earlier this year as of counsel.

Maples managing partner Andrew Doyle said the hire of the group, which includes two senior and three junior associates, completed the “last significant piece of the jigsaw” for the firm’s Dublin practice.

“Since establishing the Dublin office just three years ago Maples has experienced rapid growth, having recruited a number of high-calibre lawyers,” said Doyle. “The unique expertise and experience that Dudley brings will facilitate our continued advancement.”

Doyle added that Maples’ objective was not necessarily to be the biggest law firm in Ireland, “but to be, and to be known as, the best”.

Maples’ Irish office has grown off the back of an aggressive lateral hiring campaign that has seen a succession of senior lawyers join from leading Irish firms in the past two years.

Hires include the 2008 partner appointments of former Matheson Ormsby Prentice partner Ed Miller and A&L Goodbody partners Barry McGrath and Nollaig Murphy, to head the corporate, funds and finance groups respectively.
