Field Fisher Waterhouse (FFW) has leveraged its relationship with nominated adviser Nabarro Wells to advise the first Cypriot company to list on AIM.

FFW corporate partner Dominic Gurney-Champion advised Eastern Mediterranean Resources Public (Emed) on its £2.3m initial public offering on AIM.

Australian Cypriot Harry Anagnostaras-Adams is the managing director of Emed, the former deputy chair of the Australian Gold Council and the former chief executive of Gympie Gold. While at Gympie, Anagnostaras-Adams used Gurney-Champion’s former firm Faegre Benson Hobson & Audley for its AIM listing.

Wedlake Bell partner Stuart Robinson advised nominated adviser Nabarro Wells and broker Hitchens Harrison.

Over the past year, mining companies from around the world have flocked to AIM, sparking a scramble for clients among law firms desperate for corporate work.

The Lawyer’s 2004 AIM survey revealed that Norton Rose led the way in the mining sector, advising on eight deals. Memery Crystal followed with seven mining deals, Charles Russell and Faegre Benson had six apiece and Cobbetts worked on five. Berwin Leighton Paisner, McCarthy Tetrault and Trowers & Hamlins bagged two apiece.
