Clifford Chance has re elected Craig Medwick as regional managing partner of the Americas.

Medwick’s second term as Americas head will run through to 30 April 2013 . Medwick was first elected in 2005 when former US head John Carroll stood down nine months before his term was officially due to expire.

Clifford Chance managing partner David Childs said: “Craig has played a central role in building the firm’s practice and profile in the Americas and has guided our operations in the region through unprecedented market challenges.”

Medwick’s second term comes at a time when the magic circle firm has suffered a strong of defections in the US.

In November former DC head Leiv Blad and partners Jon Roellke and Boyd Cloern left for Bingham McCutchen (13 November 2008).

In December former US head Carroll and partner Warren Feldman and David Meister defected to Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom (2 December 2008).
