The British Airport Authority (BAA) has recruited Carol Hui as general counsel from construction group Amey.
Both companies are part of the Ferrovial Group. Amey has appointed senior counsel Wayne Robertson to replace Hui as the company’s top lawyer.
Former Slaughter and May associate Hui spent eight and a half years at Amey before taking the job at BAA.
BAA is currently in the process of trying to sell Gatwick Airport for around £2bn. Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer partner Laurie McFadden is leading the team providing corporate advice for the company, which put the airport up for sale following a report by the Competition Commission calling for it to sell three airports in the London area.
Herbert Smith is advising the company on competition issues, led by partners Julian Pollock and Stephen Wisking.
Hui’s predecessor at BAA, Robert Herga, is understood to still be with BAA and is currently handing over to Hui.
Herga kept his job at BAA despite the company being taken over by Ferrovial in 2006. Slaughter and May advised BAA as a target while Freshfields acted for Ferrovial.
