Davis Polk & Wardwell, ­Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, Sullivan & Cromwell and Weil Gotshal & Manges won lead roles on the restructuring of US insurance giant AIG.

Davis Polk partners John Amorosi and John Knight are advising the US Treasury. In exchange for a $30bn (£21.18bn) lifeline, the US government will take control of two of the group’s largest ­businesses.

Simpson Thacher partners Richard Beattie, James Gamble and Michael Nathan are advising AIG’s ­independent directors. Sullivan partners Bob Reeder, Michael Wiseman and Rodgin Cohen and Weil partners Michael Aiello, Matthew Gilroy and Marcia Goldstein are advising AIG.
