South East firm ASB Law is closing its Brighton and Horsham offices in a move affecting around 70 staff.
A number of redundancies will be likely as a result, although consultations are ongoing in the hope that most staff can be absorbed into ;ASB’s ;remaining Crawley and Maidstone offices.
The plan to consolidate the offices has been on the cards for around a year, ASB senior partner Russell Bell told The Lawyer. “When the firm started in 2000 we had nine small, local offices,” he said. “What we’re now is a regional firm in what we see as a strong regional market.”
Three partners are leaving or retiring from the Brighton office and another two partners are understood to be in discussions to leave ASB’s Maidstone base.
Bell insisted that none of the departures are connected with the consolidation.
