Linklaters Oppenhoff & Rädler’s high profile private equity partner Jochen Winter has jumped ship to Willkie Farr & Gallager after 20 years at the firm.
Winter will leave the magic circle firm at the end of the month, according to German website JUVE. Winter’s appointment is a coup for the US firm’s German private equity practice. Its last major hire in this area was Haarmann Hemmelrath corporate and finance expert Markus Wenserski in 2004.
Winter has been a key figure in developing Linklaters private equity group advising on the first billion euro deal for the German practice – the acquisition of Gagfah by Fortress in 2004. It remains unclear if he is taking a team of lawyers with him to Willkie Farr.
