Offshore law firm Collas Day Advocates has appointed a new senior partner.
Richard Ogier took up his role from 1 January 2006 following an uncontested election. He succeeds Peter Atkinson, who, after 14 years as senior partner and 25 years with the Guernsey-based firm, retires from Collas Day at the end of March.
Ogier told The Lawyer: “It remains true that the market is becoming more competitive. My role as senior partner is to try to present leadership to the staff and be a focal point for clients.”
According to Ogier, one of the key areas for the firm over the next year will be to try to expand its trust company, which is called Guernsey Trust Company.
“The trust company has been a relatively low-key part of the business so far, but it’s something that everybody at Collas Day is committed to growing,” he explained.
Ogier is the longest-serving partner at Collas Day, having been made up in 1991. He specialises in property law.
