Lovells has just hired a new head of finance systems in the shape of Steven Capon, who held a similar role at Clifford Chance.
It is quite a boon for Lovells, given that Capon was instrumental in setting up the magic circle firm’s global practice management system (GPMS). Quite a boon for Capon, too, by all accounts, as he’s going to be in charge of installing the next-generation Elite accounting system at Lovells.
Let’s just hope that Lovells doesn’t follow Clifford Chance in offshoring its back office systems to India, otherwise Capon could find himself back on the recruitment market again.
For no sooner had he finished working on implementing the GPMS than he found he had no need for the bulk of his team anymore. And with no team to run, there wasn’t an awful lot for Capon to do.
Looks like he was a little too efficient.
