Five’s director of legal and business affairs Colin Campbell will leave the channel, originally known as Channel 5, having been with it since its birth in 1997.

Campbell is to retire by the end of the year, citing the desire to have more time and freedom to pursue different ambitions.

Campbell’s roles will be split between head of legal and regulatory compliance Paul Chinnery, who will be promoted to head of legal affairs and company secretary, and managing director for content Lisa Opie.

Opie will take charge of Five’s business affairs department, which deals with contracting with programme suppliers. The business affairs department will now sit alongside the programming team.

Five’s chief executive Jane Lighting wished Campbell well for the future.
