DLA Piper and the Law Society have joined forces with law firms and in-house counsel across the country to launch a green alliance.

The two, together with social campaign group Business in the Community, set up the coalition, called the Legal Sector Alliance, in an attempt to drive environmental sustainability in the legal sector.

DLA Piper CEO Nigel Knowles will be chairing the lead group of the alliance.

“The initiative is about collaboration within the legal sector to develop best practice and tackle climate change issues that specifically relate to us as a sector,” said Knowles.

Law Society president Andrew Holroyd added: “We’ll monitor and shape legislative proposals aimed at protecting the environment through modification of business behaviour to ensure they are necessary, effective and workable.”
