Martineau Johnson and Pinsents have won a competitive tender to secure the University of Plymouth as a new client.
Martineaus has been brought on board to advise the university on employment, corporate, commercial and real estate work.
Pinsents will advise Plymouth on governance and health-related issues.
Historically, Plymouth’s annual legal spend has been between about £400,000 and £500,000.
Martineaus head of education Paul Pharaoh and partner John Rice led the teams which secured the Plymouth contracts.
In a separate move, Martineaus has also won the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (Soas) and St Anne’s College, Oxford as new clients.
The Birmingham-based firm will advise St Anne’s on the financing of a capital project and Soas on specialist student issues.
