Manchester firm Halliwell Landau has expanded its commercial property department with six new appointments in a bid to become the premier property firm in the north west.
The firm has poached the group solicitor from Preston-based property company The Eric Wright Group. Jane Coyle joins as a senior solicitor, as does Andrew Ward, formerly an equity partner and head of property at 11-partner Manchester firm Cooper Sons, Hartley & Williams.
Stephenson Harwood has lost senior solicitor Nicola Tobin to the firm, and three other junior solicitors have also been recruited.
Head of property Stephen Goodman says there will further lateral hires in the future, possibly at partner level.
“We regard ourselves as one of the leading property teams in the north west, but we would like to become the premier team. Our aim is to pull away from Dibb Lupton Alsop in property terms.”
