Ward Hadaway opens third Newcastle office

North East firm Ward Hadaway is opening a new office on Newcastle’s Quayside.

The firm is relocating its personal injury, corporate recovery and insolvency teams into 7,500sq ft of newly-built office space in the Trinity Gardens area of the city.

Around 30 staff will relocate in total, creating additional space for growth at the firm’s existing premises in Sandgate House and Keel Row House, intended particularly for its commercial property team.

The move is a sign of ambition at the firm, which in October last year snatched a three-lawyer team from Eversheds including partner Melanie Pears as its new head of public sector (first reported by The Lawyer 4 October 2006).

In November the firm also launched a scheme with Deloitte and management consultants RTC North to provide legal, financial and organisational guidance to businesses opening in China (first reported by The Lawyer 15 November 2006).

The firm’s year-end results, first reported in The Lawyer on June 14 2006, showed increased turnover but static profits so far. Turnover hit £21.6m, a six per cent increase on 2004-05’s £20m, but profit per equity partner remained at £370,000.
